This blog isn’t a normal posting for Wild Moon Healers, but stick with me as I want to share an experience with you.
While hanging out with a friend, we both craved pizza for lunch. Unfortunately, the initial place we visited was no longer open for business. After searching online, we found a different pizza joint on West Street in Annapolis, Maryland, USA, that caught our interest. However, upon arriving, we discovered that this establishment only opened at 5 PM for dinner service.
While strolling along the sidewalk, we stumbled upon a charming spot named Lighthouse Bistro. Intrigued by the appealing menu, we decided to step inside.
I think we were led there by a higher power, although I'm still unsure of the reason.
The establishment's website describes itself as a social enterprise that allows people with employment barriers to learn while developing a resume and earning a living wage. The bottom line for The Light House Social Enterprise is employment for people experiencing homelessness.

The ambiance is charming and cozy, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment. We loved the open kitchen concept. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted and seated promptly. The manager personally extended a warm welcome to us. Another staff member promptly took our drink and food orders. Subsequently, our waitress delivered our wine and apologized for being unable to take our order immediately as she was on the phone with her son. While initially unsure about the situation, I always appreciate and am impressed with honesty.
My friend and I started noticing the décor and how intentional everything was. One wall had ladders with a sign that said, “Ladders to Success.” Another wall had wheels with a plaque that said, “Wheels of Progress.” And another had windows with the saying, "Windows of Opportunities." Everything was deliberate and well thought out. Our waitress noticed us looking around and asked if we needed anything. We just said we were admiring the décor, and we were okay.
I told my friend that everyone was busy. Not a single person was standing around. The chef in the kitchen was singing as he was cleaning, and two employees were chatting as they swept the floors; everyone seemed like friends. The camaraderie was amazing to watch. My friend had her back to them, so she turned around to witness it herself. Once again, the waitress came over to our table, showing that she was still aware of us looking around.
We shared our observations with her, and she expressed gratitude. She reassured us that they function as a team, always backing each other up, and cited our encounter as a case in point. She mentioned that her colleague noticed she was on a call when we arrived, triggering them to approach us and take our order promptly. Watching people who seemed to enjoy and appreciate their job was a pleasure.
After that, the food arrived. We opted for the fig and goat cheese flatbread and a margarita flatbread. Both dishes were delicious! As pizza enthusiasts, we observed that one could have used a bit more fig while the other could have had more sauce, but overall, they were quite enjoyable. The flavors of each dish blended marvelously. The Pinot Noir they offered was perfect as well.
Our waitress inquired if we were interested in dessert. Although we were already full, my friend wanted to purchase some granola. The waitress responded, "I'm relieved you only want granola, as the kitchen is now closed." I chuckled as I noticed one of the staff members securing the outdoor furniture, mistakenly thinking a storm was approaching. At this moment, we learned they closed at 3 PM, and it was already 3:20, but we were never rushed.
The waitress consistently wore a smile. I had never encountered such outstanding service and been so amazed by an establishment until now. I finally understand the true meaning of exceptional service. To convey our appreciation for our experience, we left a generous tip. It was well deserved.

My friend and I recently started a YouTube channel called Pizza and Cocktails for fun. We are constantly searching for a good pizzeria or place that serves pizza! This place was undoubtedly one of the best finds we've ever made, and we will return for more.
