The First Energetic Quarter of 2026: What Lunar Cycles Have Been Teaching Our Nervous Systems

The first energetic quarter of the year, through lunar cycles, has been teaching us how to return to ourselves without abandoning our nervous system in the process.
As you may be starting to notice, there is a lunar progression to the healing process.
What March’s Lunar Cycles Revealed About Our Nervous System
Pisces season reminded us that exhaustion is not failure. Sometimes it’s the soul asking us to stop surviving unconsciously. An emotional ending before the new energetic year began.
Through the Spring Equinox, the nervous system began reorienting toward life again. But the body doesn’t always trust new beginnings immediately.
So, the Aries season arrives, bringing movement back. It may have felt more like survival energy than motivation. This is because your system is identifying the gap between desire and nervous system readiness.
What April Lunar Cycles Revealed About Our Nervous System
We started off with a Libra Full Moon that asked, "How do you bring authenticity into the collective?" "Can I stay connected while becoming myself?" This Full Moon exposed where people sacrifice themselves for connection.
This might be when many people realized they were maintaining peace externally while feeling disconnected internally.
Then the Aries New Moon asked who you are becoming. This is raw energy. So with a dysregulated nervous system, Aries energy can feel threatening because:
change feels unsafe
visibility feels dangerous
movement triggers fear
embodiment activates vulnerability
The body remembers experiences that the mind may try to move past too quickly. The nervous system often holds onto experiences long after the mind believes it has moved past them. So, you may have felt deeply during this period.
When Taurus' season began, the energy slowed down to help us heal the gap identified under Aries and create a safe foundation. Slow down enough to feel yourself again. We asked questions like: "Can I stay connected while becoming myself?"
Aries energy pushes courage, individuality, action, and self-definition. To balance, Taurus asked for rest, steadiness, simplicity, regulation, and physical safety.
This was the beginning of reconnecting with the body rather than just the mind.
Taurus asked:
What actually supports me?
What exhausts me?
What is sustainable?
What helps me feel safe?
What am I forcing?
These reflections are to help you realize that you’re not lazy—you’re overloaded and protecting yourself.
What May Lunar Cycles Reveal About Our Nervous System
We started with a Scorpio Full Moon under a Taurus Sun that exposed why people struggle to move forward even when they consciously want change. Scorpio says, "The mind may want expansion, but the body remembers danger."
Then the Taurus New Moon continued this process, not through force, but through grounding. Taurus rarely demands transformation all at once. Instead, it slows us down long enough to feel what is no longer sustainable.
So, Gemini season brings the first true expansion point of the year. This is the first major expansion after a season of grounding, stabilization, and emotional excavation.
Because:
Pisces dissolved
Aries activated
Libra revealed imbalance
Taurus grounded
Scorpio exposed emotional truth
Now Gemini gathers perspective, so the upcoming Sagittarius Full Moon can help us find meaning.
This becomes awareness, turning into wisdom.
First Quarter Recap - Emotional Excavation
The first quarter of the lunar year mirrors the beginning of the waxing phase: awareness emerging from emotional darkness.
During this lunar phase, many of us begin recognizing the patterns, wounds, imbalances, and nervous system responses we can no longer ignore.
Healing asks us to feel them, face them, understand them, and eventually move beyond them.

Pisces— Feel It
Pisces is the end of the lunar year, but flows into the new year's energy. It asks us to slow down long enough to honestly sit with emotions instead of escaping them.
What emotions have I been trying to outrun, numb, or intellectualize instead of allowing myself to fully feel?
Where is my exhaustion asking for compassion instead of criticism?
Aries— Move It
Take one courageous step forward, even if you don’t feel completely ready yet.
What part of me is ready to move forward, even if fear is still present?
Where have I been waiting to “feel ready” before taking action?
Libra — Balance It
Libra's Full Moon reaches toward balance. Notice where your needs and your relationships have fallen out of alignment.
Where am I abandoning myself to maintain peace, approval, or connection?
What would a healthier emotional balance look like in my relationships and daily life?
Taurus — Ground It
Return to your body, your breath, and the simple things that create safety and stability.
What genuinely helps my body feel safe, supported, and regulated?
What pace of life feels sustainable for my nervous system right now?
Scorpio — Face It
A Scorpio Full Moon brings stuff up that you would rather it didn't. Be honest about the emotional patterns, fears, or wounds still influencing you beneath the surface.
What truth about myself, my patterns, or my pain have I been avoiding?
What emotional wound or fear still quietly influences my choices?
Gemini — Understand It
Get curious about your thoughts, reactions, and the stories shaping your perspective.
What stories or thought patterns keep repeating in my mind lately?
Am I seeking more information… or am I avoiding inner clarity?
Sagittarius — Expand Beyond It
The Sagittarius Full Moon wants you to expand. Choose growth that honors your truth instead of keeping yourself small to survive.
What limiting belief am I finally ready to outgrow?
What future becomes possible if I stop shrinking myself to survive?
Second Quarter Forecast - Nervous System Expansion
We move from heaviness and awareness…
To consistency and capacity.
The first quarter revealed where we were wounded. The second quarter may reveal how difficult it is to stop identifying with the wound.
We started off the lunar year emotionally heavy, but in many ways, it was internal. It was about waking us up, truly feeling, stabilizing our system, and revealing what needs our attention.
Then the second quarter becomes about embodiment.
Living what you now know.
Not just awareness.
Not just insight.
Not just “doing the work.”
Living it.
The second quarter is collectively the heart of waxing lunar energy. So when your awareness demands action, that's why. The moon reminds us that growth happens in phases, not all at once.
As we move deeper into the energies of Gemini, Cancer, and Leo, themes around communication, emotional safety, confidence, self-expression, purpose, and sustainable growth will continue to unfold.
It becomes about trusting yourself enough to keep moving and discovering what your nervous system can safely hold: more visibility, expansion, joy, connection, and possibility.
It also asks you to stop treating healing like a destination and begin living it as a rhythm.
The second quarter of the year will likely challenge us to speak more honestly, regulate instead of react, stop abandoning ourselves, build healthier routines, reconnect with joy, and create lives that feel emotionally sustainable—not just externally successful.
The struggle may become:
maintaining boundaries consistently,
taking action without abandoning yourself,
staying regulated during growth,
tolerating visibility,
trusting stability,
receiving support,
and allowing joy without waiting for disaster.
This is where awareness becomes embodiment. Where the nervous system's work becomes lived experience.
Because awareness feels meaningful…
but embodiment feels vulnerable.
Where the question shifts from:
“What am I healing from?”
to:
“What am I ready to build now?”
Because healing was never meant to keep you trapped in constant self-analysis.
Eventually, healing asks you to live.
The first quarter taught many of us how to listen to ourselves again.
The second quarter may teach us how to trust what we heard.
Of course, no one experiences lunar energy exactly the same way. Your personal experiences, nervous system history, environment, responsibilities, relationships, and emotional capacity all shape how these themes unfold for you.
Lunar cycles do not control us. They simply illuminate patterns, tensions, emotions, and opportunities that may already be moving beneath the surface.
