There’s powerful energy in the air right now — and it’s here for your greater good. Anger is a sacred tool on your healing path. It contains wisdom if you harness it correctly.
The 8/8 Lion’s Gate Portal is potent with transformation, and the Full Sturgeon Moon is emotionally charged. Together, they create the perfect storm to help you release what no longer serves you.
This is a night to work through an experience you just can’t shake.
To name the deeper issue that needs your attention.
To give it both your rage and your grace.
For me, this is the first step in a month-long ritual to move through something big in my life. I want a breakthrough. I want to level up. And I’m choosing to be intentional about it.
If you don’t work with tarot, you can still do this ceremony as a guided reflection and journaling practice. The truth is, you already have all the answers you seek inside you. The cards are simply a way to direct your conscious energy and help you dig deeper into your subconscious.
Opening Invocation
(Stand or sit facing the moon if possible, hand on heart and belly)
Say aloud:
I stand at the gate of my becoming. Tonight, the moon illuminates what I have carried too long. I call upon my rage, my truth, and my courage to rise together. May this fire burn away illusions, allow me to shed false skins, and leave only what is true to carry me forward. I welcome the wisdom of the cards, the clarity of the moon, and the roar of my own soul. It is safe for me to see. It is safe for me to feel. It is safe for me to be free.
(Light a white candle of truth, or incense, to mark the beginning. Let it burn throughout the reading and journaling.)
Release the Rage: Full Moon Spread
For moving from burning rage to empowered rebirth.
1 — The Spark (What lit this fire?)
Lion’s Gate lens: What event, truth, or boundary violation has brought my attention here?
Sturgeon Moon lens: What deep truth is rising from the depths of my subconscious right now?
Card intention: Names the real trigger, even if it’s buried under layers.
2 — The Fuel (What’s keeping it burning?)
Lion’s Gate lens: What outdated version of myself am I still protecting out of fear?
Sturgeon Moon lens: What pattern or belief am I unwilling to let go of — even though it’s hurting me?
Card intention: Reveals the attachment that’s feeding the fire.
3 — The Smoke (What’s clouding my clarity?)
Lion’s Gate lens: Where am I over-identifying with my pain or story?
Sturgeon Moon lens: What emotional fog is keeping me from seeing the deeper truth?
Card intention: Pulls forward illusions, ego stories, and projections that distort your view.
4 — The Burn (What truth does this rage carry?)
Lion’s Gate lens: What sacred truth about who I am is fighting to be acknowledged?
Sturgeon Moon lens: What wisdom have I gained through the intensity of this feeling?
Card intention: Turns anger into a teacher and a source of personal power.
5 — The Ashes (What am I ready to release?)
Lion’s Gate lens: What identity, role, or mask no longer serves my becoming?
Sturgeon Moon lens: What weight can I put down so I can swim freely toward my future?
Card intention: Shows the precise thing to burn in tonight’s ritual release.
6 — The Phoenix (How do I rise empowered?)
Lion’s Gate lens: How do I boldly step forward into my next chapter?
Sturgeon Moon lens: What promise can I make to myself to honor my emotional truth?
Card intention: Leaves you with a clear anchor for integration and self-reclamation.
🖤 Journaling Ritual Flow
Pull all 6 cards in order.
For each position, answer both the Lion’s Gate and Sturgeon Moon questions in your free-write (3–5 minutes per card).
End with a Declaration of Release & Rise — one short, powerful paragraph stating what you’re burning and how you’re emerging.
If you choose, burn the paper or tear it up under the moonlight as the physical act of release.

Closing Benediction
(Hold your final Phoenix card in both hands, close your eyes, and breathe deeply)
Say aloud:
The fire has spoken. I honor what I have released, and I bless what I now carry forward. I rise lighter, clearer, and stronger, a phoenix of my own making. With this moon as my witness, I close this ceremony in gratitude, knowing the work is done —and the transformation has begun.
(Blow out the candle as your signal of completion, imagining the smoke carrying your release upward.)
