Most people try to change their lives according to the calendar year, but nature follows a different rhythm. The lunar wheel of the year is your map to holistic healing.

The moon and the seasons create a repeating cycle of energy that influences how we reflect, grow, release, and begin again.
Many people are beginning to explore the relationship between lunar cycles and mental health, noticing how emotional awareness, reflection, and personal growth often follow these natural rhythms.
In the philosophy of Wild Moon Healers®, this rhythm serves as a guide to holistic mental health, emotional awareness, and personal transformation.
How Lunar Cycles Support Mental Health and Personal Growth
Rather than forcing change at the wrong time, we can move with the natural cycle. The more you start following these natural cycles, the better you become at distinguishing which phase of the cycle you are currently in.
The Lunar Wheel of the Year
The Lunar Wheel of the Year follows the rhythms of nature, though it includes subtle differences that help us understand our own cycles of growth and healing.
Flowing from one season to the next helps you learn how energy shifts in different seasons of life.
The elements help you learn about light and dark, as each element has the capacity to help growth or to destroy.
Key seasonal moments align with important lunar cycles, creating a natural calendar for learning, healing, and personal growth.
Adding lunar cycles to the symbolism expresses the cyclical nature of life and healing. There is always an ending and a return.
There will always be times when we need to go inward, into our own darkness, to honor it and heal. And there are times when we need to shine and show the world what we're made of.
Which cycle are you in right now? If you're unsure, let's explore the Lunar Wheel together.
New Moon Energy - Begin, Root, Explore
The Lunar Wheel of the Year begins exactly where nature begins — with the return of light. The words you use may be different than mine, but it's all about a return to light. Nothing is rushed; it just unfolds.

Spring Equinox — Balance & Awakening
Day and night become equal as the world wakes from winter.
Theme: Emerging into light
New Moon in Aries — The True Beginning
The New Moon in Aries marks the natural start of a new cycle.
It’s a time to set intentions, begin again, and reconnect with your inner direction.
Theme: Courage to begin
Taurus Season — Growth & Stability
The seeds planted earlier begin to take root.
Theme: Building something sustainable
Gemini Season — Curiosity & Awareness
A time to learn, question, and connect.
Theme: Learning from shifting perspectives.
These first few months are to start something sustainable, and to lean, grow, and connect along the way. You can't grow alone.
I'm currently writing this blog in 2026. This year, there are two new moons in Aries. We have more time to set the foundation for our new beginnings this year.
Waxing Moon Energy - Feel, Express, Refine
As we shift into summer, the solstice marks the first-quarter moon energy. If you've read my books, you know this is the "give it all you've got" energy. Summer is in full swing; use this mature, high-level energy to help create a life you love.

Summer Solstice — Expansion & Visibility
The longest day of the year reminds us that life is meant to be expressed.
Theme: Stepping fully into your light
Cancer Season — Emotional Awareness
A time to turn inward, evaluate your progress, and honor emotional truths.
Theme: Fostering inner safety and emotional healing.
Leo Season — Empowerment & Authenticity
A time to reconnect with joy, creativity, and personal power.
Theme: Living from the heart
Virgo Season — Healing & Integration
The energy turns inward again, inviting refinement and healing.
Theme: Aligning your life with what truly matters
As energy waxes, we experience triggers. Things in our lives feel difficult. There are always emotional growth pains when we are in the midst of transformation.
Full Moon Energy - Balance, Transform, Seek
The fall teaches how change is necessary. This energy helps us see which truths have ripened and are ready to be released.

Autumn Equinox — Balance & Reflection
Another moment of equal light and dark, asking us to examine where we stand.
Theme: Honest reflection
Libra Season — Harmony & Truth
See yourself through reflection to balance and align with who you want to be.
Theme: Finding balance
Scorpio Season — Shadow & Transformation
Deep emotional work becomes possible here.
Theme: Facing what we avoid
Sagittarius Season — Meaning & Vision
After the transformation, we search for a deeper understanding.
Theme: Finding purpose
This time of year is great for shadow work. Getting ready to shed what you no longer need is the key to properly aligning with winter. This is a necessary part of growth that allows you to expand beyond the old story.
Waning Moon Energy - Build, Awaken, Surrender
The holidays during this part of the lunar wheel remind us that this is a time to gather with those we care about, tell stories of those gone before us, and honor where we are in our own story.

Winter Solstice — Reflection & Stillness
The longest night invites quiet contemplation.
Theme: Rest and renewal
Capricorn Season — Discipline & Structure
A time to build foundations that support long-term goals.
Theme: Commitment to growth
Aquarius Solstice — Innovation & Awakening
Seeing life from a new perspective.
Theme: Envision and liberate
Pisces Season — Surrender & Compassion
The final phase before the cycle begins again.
Theme: Release and trust
Go inward. Do the hard work. This is part of the process that cannot be avoided. While it may feel uncomfortable, this is the path to discovering your truth and living an authentic life.
Once you begin noticing these patterns in nature, you start noticing them in your own life as well.
The Lunar Wheel reminds us that growth is not linear — it is cyclical.
My Final Thoughts
Our twelve zodiacs are broken down into four seasons, each bringing an initiating, sustaining, and adaptable energy.
Spring starts with fire energy. You begin to feel it as we transition from Pisces to Aries, that destruction required for rebirth. Spring flows through the energy of initiation, stability, and adaptivity.
Summer starts with water energy. Water isn't just emotional, it's protective. Even nature wants what started in spring to flourish. Summer shifts us into the energy necessary to create, but also practical energy, because you can't have your head in the clouds when what you're creating is down here on the earth.
Fall starts with air energy. Air is indicative of an energetic shift and balance. As we transform, we must be both diplomatic and optimistic.
Winter starts with earth energy. We are told to go inward, but with a structure that allows us to release and make room for new things. As you do that, your innovative spirit will rise, and you will more easily tap into your own intuition.
When we align our lives with these natural cycles, we begin to see how lunar cycles and mental health are deeply connected.
Instead, we begin moving with the same rhythm that has guided life on Earth for thousands of years. And in that rhythm, we often discover something powerful: The next step has been waiting for us all along.
Begin Following Your Own Lunar Rhythm
Understanding the Lunar Wheel of the Year is only the first step. The real transformation begins when you learn to recognize where you are in the cycle and work with that energy rather than against it.
If you're ready to explore this process more deeply, I share these teachings through my books, courses, and resources at Wild Moon Healers®.
